The research team conducts the following projects addressing emerging health care issues in Sri Lanka.
Our Phd project on leptospirosis investigate the molecular epideiology of leptospirosis in the Western and Southern provinces in Sri Lanka. Further we are investigating the correlates of disease severity of leptospirosis including factors contributing to immune responses and level of bacteraemia.
Our M.Phil projects on Helicobacter pylori infections addresses the molecular detection of antibiotic resistance through a gene mutation. Further the immunological and histological factors contributing to disease severity in the local population are investigated.
The M Phil project on oral yeast infections investigate common oral yeast species and their interactions contributing to pathogenesis among immunocompromised and healthy population.
